Couple of things..

  A sketch of something I am currently working on... inspired by the Slenderman meme and it's origins in the Der Grossman etching by Hans Freckenberg.

This piece was for the "Pervert Show" in Seattle.

Scarecrow...

For the "Between Heaven and Hellboy" show, I picked Scarecrow.  I haven't drawn anything directly comic book related in a really, really long time.  Originally, I wanted to tackle Ghost Rider.  But, I figured Clayton Crain had already nailed it.  So, Scarecrow seemed to be a good place start again.  He's all about scary stuff.

I also kept a pretty good record of the progress on the piece while I was working on it.  Anyways... here's the progress animation:

Showtime, in Seattle!!!

Hey kids, almost time for the "Between Heaven and Hellboy" superheroes/supervillains show!  I've got a piece in the show amidst about 100 other works, I'm told.  There's a helluva' lot of coverage for this show and some really sharp talents participating.  Come check it out.

 A sneak peek at my piece for the show.

Old(ish) pic...

This is a pic I did for a show back in March of 2011.  It was a show at Bherd Studios (in Greenwood, Seattle) called "Book Club: Good Omens".  The participating artists were asked to read Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and then make a piece inspired by what they read.  I thought it would be cool to illustrate the ad for the Witchfinder Army that Newton Pulsifer reads.

It's all pen and ink... and yes, all the strikethrough marks in the background are hand-done.

Sorry for the bad photograph... it was the only photo I was ever able to get of the pic.  The picture now sits in the first floor hallway of City Hostel Seattle, where I worked, at the time.

Final (?) and process...

Here is the tentative final.  I'm kind of tired of working on it, for now.  Maybe I'll do some stuff to it down the road.  But I think I will just leave it alone.  I feel like I've made some progress in the color palette department.  With this one, I tried to stick to a more limited palette.  Beksinski's process (great post about it here, also an extensive collection of his fantasy work) inspired me.  Supposedly, he picked only a few colors when beginning a piece and stuck with only those colors until completion.

 Above is a process compilation.  I like to start in black and white to nail down contrast, form, focus, and a general idea of texture.  Then, I'll tone the black and white and start throwing in some color.
